Velai Apply — Privacy Policy

This policy describes how the Velai Apply Chrome extension (“the extension”) handles information during the Beta · Free demo. It applies to the extension package published under the name Velai Apply.

What the extension does

Velai Apply is a browser extension that helps you explore an auto-apply workflow: pick a job, review a tailored resume, and prepare an application form in your own browser tab. You always review and submit yourself — the extension does not submit applications on your behalf in this beta build.

Data we collect in this build

Local storage only

The beta demo stores session state (selected job, demo phase, placeholder tab reference) in Chrome's local storage APIs (chrome.storage.session or chrome.storage.local) on your device. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to Velai servers in the current demo.

Mock content

Jobs and resume PDFs in the beta are fictional mock data generated locally. No live applicant tracking system (ATS) is contacted. No employer receives your information from this demo.

What we do not do in this build

  • No account sign-in required for the demo
  • No selling or renting of personal data
  • No advertising or tracking pixels
  • No broad host permissions or silent page scraping
  • No transmission of form field contents to third parties

Beta limitations

This release is a demonstration of the Velai Apply experience. It uses placeholder jobs, a locally generated mock resume PDF, and a safe example.com tab instead of real career sites. Do not rely on this build for actual job applications.

Future releases (not in this build)

Future versions may connect to a Velai account to sync jobs, profile, and tailored materials via Velai services. When that ships, this policy will be updated with:

  • What account data is used
  • How job and profile data is processed
  • Retention and deletion options
  • Third-party subprocessors, if any

Those features are not implemented in the current Beta · Free extension.

Permissions

The extension requests:

  • sidePanel — show the apply workflow UI
  • storage — persist demo state between panel opens
  • tabs — open or focus the demo placeholder apply tab

It does not request <all_urls>, scripting on arbitrary sites, or downloads permission in this build.
